I'm excited to learn that two of my books: Praying with Angels, and Flower and Tree Magic, will shortly be published in the Czech Republic by Milena V. Fontana.

Face Reading Quick & Easy to be translated into Arabic

posted Aug 18, 2013, 7:29 PM by Richard Webster

I've just heard from Llewellyn's (my publisher) that they've sold the Arabic rights to Face Reading Quick & Easy. This is the first of my books to be translated into Arabic, and means my books have been translated into 30 languages. I'm very excited!

50 Books with Llewellyn Publications

posted Aug 13, 2013, 9:06 PM by Richard Webster

Way back in 1991, I decided that if I was going to make a living as a writer, I'd have to find one based in the United States. This was because I'd had three books published by a UK publisher, and they'd sold less than my earlier books published solely in New Zealand. While researching possible publishers, I read an article about Llewellyn Publications in Publishers' Weekly. According to the article, they had sold more than a million copies of a series of books on astrology. I immediately sent away for their writer's guidelines, and while waiting for it to arrive in the post (it was that long ago), bought a dozen of their books and studied them. I then wrote a book that I thought fulfilled everything their guidelines demanded. Fortunately, it must have, as that book - Revealing Hands - was published in 1994. A month ago, I visited Llewellyn's in Woodbury, MN, and was thrilled to find they'd put on a surprise party for me to mark the publication of my 50th book with them. Thank you, Llewellyn's, for enabling me to fulfil my childhood dream of becoming a full-time writer.

Award Winning Author

In June, 2012, I attended the International New Age Trade Show in Denver. I had attended this convention several times before, and always love the opportunity it presents to catch up with old friends and to see what's new in the New Age field. This year I was caught totally by surprise when I was awarded The COVR (Convention of Visionary Retailers) Award for the best divination book for 2012. This was for Spirit and Dream Animals. The only other writing award I've received also came as a huge surprise. In December 2008, at the New Zealand Magicians' Convention, I was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to excellence in writing magical literature by Magic New Zealand. I feel incredibly honored and humbled by both of these awards.

Psychic Protection for Beginners

posted Jan 20, 2011, 8:02 PM by Richard Webster

My publisher has just told me that the foreign rights for one of my new books, Psychic Protection for Beginners, have been sold to Hermes Publishing in Bulgaria, and Editions AdA Inc. in Canada. This book is selling well in English, and I'm looking forward to seeing it in Bulgarian and French.  Both Hermes and AdA produce beautiful books, and I'm delighted they're publishing this one, as they've already published some of my other books.

Catching Up

2010 was a good year for me in some ways, but not so good in others. I spent ten days in hospital in June with a pulmonary embolism in June.  Fortunately, I'm fit and well again, but have got behind on many things, including this website.  I had three books published in 2010: Psychic Protection for Beginners, The Complete Book of Auras, and Geomancy for Beginners.  I'll post information about these as soon as I can.  In the meantime, they're available at your favorite bookshop and Amazon.

100th Book

posted Jan 27, 2010, 11:21 PM by Richard Webster

My 100th book has just been published in the United States.  It is called You Can Read Palms (Llewellyn Publications, 2010).  It marks an important milestone for me, as it is my 100th published book, and my 40th book with Llewellyn Publications.  Actually, I'm not sure if I can legitimately claim it as my 100th book, as I used to work as a ghostwriter and 20 of my books have other people's names on the cover.  However, I still have 100 books out there - plus several more unpublishable books languishing in a drawer.

Trip to Russia

I leave for Moscow and St. Petersburg in a few hours.  I'm looking forward to it enormously.  Russia is one of the biggest markets for my books, and I'm hoping to see and learn as much as possible in the two weeks I'm there.

New book

I received my advance copies of Prayer for Beginners this morning, and am thrilled with how beautiful it looks.  Llewellyn's always produce attractive books, but this one is stunning.  It is the first of my books to appear in the new look they have given their "For Beginners" series.  It will be available in bookstores in the next few weeks.  My next book with Llewellyn's is You Can Read Palms, which will be published in January 2010.  I will post the cover here as soon as it is available.

Recently, a journalist asked me how many languages my books had been translated into.  I had no idea, and told him "about twenty."  As a result of that interview I checked and found my books have been translated into 29 languages.  They are: Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Swedish and Yugoslavian.
